Since its founding earlier this year, the Orangevale Food Bank has provided hundreds of families in the community with food for their stomachs and love for their hearts. This Thanksgiving was no different. Anyone who drove past the Main Avenue building on the morning of November nineteenth would have seen a line around the corner. This year, the Orangevale Food Bank, in partnership with the Twin Lakes Food Bank, was able to provide over 220 families with full Thanksgiving meals. In addition to several successful food drives at local schools and grocery stores, County Supervisor Roberta McGlashen and Senator Ted Gaines helped make Thanksgiving possible for these families. Both generously donated 50 turkeys each to help support the Orangevale Food Bank this Thanksgiving. Of course, none of it would have been possible without the help of 40-50 big-hearted volunteers, who did everything from pack boxes with all the fixings for the meal, help people carry their food to their cars, and make sure that everyone got exactly what they needed based on the size of their families.
The Orangevale Food Bank would like to sincerely thank everyone who helped make Thanksgiving a reality for needy families this year. Thank you to everyone who donated food, time, effort, and money to bring the joy of the holiday season to those in need. Thank you to all of the grocery stores who graciously allowed us to hold food drives. Thank you to the school principals and teachers who have partnered with us to get children involved in giving this season. Thank you to Starbucks for donating free pastries and coffee (and even a few employees!) to us the morning of our Thanksgiving Outreach event.
Most of all, we would like to thank God. Without His love, none of this would be possible. Blessings to you and yours during this holiday season, and thank you for your continued support of our work here at the Orangevale Food Bank.
