OVFB Cooking Demonstration
Last month, the Orangevale Food Bank took part in Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution Day, a global campaign promote cooking skills, celebrating the importance of cooking good food from scratch and instilling healthy eating habits. To support the campaign, one of the Food Bank’s volunteers, Steve Williams — restaurant veteran and owner of JC’s Lunchbox, a new, local catering service — offered an onsite cooking demonstration. Several neighbors came out to the event where they learned to prepare a dish (Garlic-Lemon Chicken with Sautéed Summer Vegetables – recipe below) with ingredients on hand at the Food Bank. Steve has kindly offered to conduct another cooking demonstration this Thursday, June 12 from 10:30 a.m. – noon in the Orangevale Food Bank parking lot. Following the demonstration, all attendees will be provided food samples and given the recipe and ingredients to recreate the dish at home. Please join us for an afternoon of fresh food and friendly faces at the Orangevale Food Bank.
