Elementary School Food Drive Brings in Almost 2000 lbs. of food!

Green Oaks Fundamental Elementary School in Orangevale held their annual Food Drive on Friday, April 5th to benefit the Orangevale-Fair Oaks Food Bank. The GO Student Council sent home grocery bags encouraging students and their families to fill the bags with non perishable food items and return them to the school on the scheduled date. The children arrived to school and were greeted with balloons and music and student council members wearing fun and crazy hats to set an exciting mood and foster a love of giving as they handed over their bags of donated food. Student council members led by Mrs. Nena Wilson then loaded the bags into the back of the Food Bank Truck. The Food Drive was a huge success as the students were able to collect 1,982 pounds of food to help neighbors in need through the Food Bank. This food will be distributed directly to families suffering with food insecurity in Orangevale and Fair Oaks. THANK YOU Green Oaks Beavers for your generosity!
