We began this project nearly a year ago, and we’re finally seeing it through completion. So exciting! We were looking for a better place to hold our outdoor food distributions with a more permanent structure. For many years, we’ve set up and torn down popup tents to help shade our produce and other products which are served outside every week. In the extreme heat, cold and rain – this is not an ideal scenario for our volunteers and neighbors in need. We also spend lots of money replacing popup tents from overuse.
We were so blessed to have a professional architect, engineer, and 4-5 other dedicated professionals help us put together this plan. We spent many months working with Sacramento County on a lot line challenge, but ultimately received a green light late this summer. Over 90% of the materials have been donated, including all of the concrete thanks to Livingstons Concrete. The building products were largely supplied at no cost by Taiga Building Products and Pacific Coast Building Products.
A huge thank you to so many people who spent countless hours and graciously donated to make this all possible. We are set to have an official grand opening this coming weekend. Here are a few of the latest photos.
