We exist to share God’s love in our community by providing
food, resources and hope to families in need.
As an organization, we hope to make a positive impact in the Orangevale community by providing food, resources and hope to families in need. But we also strive to facilitate participation from people within our community to help improve the lives of families in need through community outreach events, volunteering, food drives, and connecting people through a common purpose.
Orangevale Food Bank was formed by several members of the community in Orangevale working diligently to lay the groundwork for a local food bank and family resource center. In our current economy, several hundred families struggle each month to provide basic food for their families. The Orangevale Food bank rallies the community behind these families to help them during these difficult times. The Orangevale Food Bank exists to bridge the gap for those families, and provide assistance temporarily while they work toward meeting these needs in their own.
Orangevale Food Bank joined Assist Local Foundation in January, 2012. The desire of the Orangevale Food Bank team is to expand the ministry to include the local community working alongside multiple churches to provide food and assistance to those in our community that are homeless or struggling each month to provide basic food for their families. All donations made to Orangevale Food Bank are tax deductible under Assist Local Foundation’s status.
Below is a video overview explaining more information about us.
The Assist Local Network concept was born out of more than 30 years of community service work beginning in Santa Ana, CA. Operation Love was founded by Assist Local Network’s founder and members of local community churches in southern California in the late 1970s, to serve those in poverty in Santa Ana. During the time that Operation Love served the community, the City of Santa Ana awarded Operation Love and it’s members the LISA (Let’s Improve Santa Ana) community service award for having the most effect on poverty and improving the quality of life for those in need.
“…for I was hungry, and you gave me food to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in…”
